Forwarding involves two calls: one incoming call to your Dingtone phone number and one
call to the destination phone number. The rates for both calls are combined.
Callback works in two steps. First, our system dials your phone number (callback). After
you pick up the call from Dingtone, we dial the destination number and bridge the two
calls together in our system. The rates for both calls are combined.
If you are in a country where we provide local dial-in numbers (such as the United
States, UK, and others), Dingtone will use your phone to dial a local access number
which then re-routes the call to the destination phone number.
For example, if you are a Dingtone user in the US and you want to call your friend in
India, Dingtone will first dial a local US phone number (for example, 408-123-4567) to
connect to the Dingtone servers. Once connected, our system will bridge the call to
India.
If you have ever used a calling card, you will be familiar with this service. Dingtone,
however, is much easier to use than a calling card.
Please note that local dial-in uses your cell minutes. However, there's no need to worry
because a dial-in call is always a local call. Your phone company won't charge the call
as an international call.
You can record your phone call at any time during the call. Call recordings are stored
in Dingtone servers for one year. You can forward your recordings via Email.
Call recording may cost your Dingtone credits depending on the length of the
recording.
Shorter than 1 minute, free.
1-10 minutes recording, 2 Dingtone credits.
11-30 minutes recording, 6 Dingtone credits.
Over 30 minutes, 20 Dingtone credits.
The voicemail service is attached to your Dingtone phone number. Once the number
expires, the voicemail service also expires even though you use it for only a few
months.
